The gateway is a BACnet MS/TP slave (server) device that functions
as a LonWorks polling device. Each of 155 BACnet objects
maps to up to 155 LonWorks network variables.
LonWorks structured SNVT’s may be parsed to multiple
BACnet objects when reading. Multiple BACnet
objects may be packed into a single SNVT structure
when writing. All LonWorks Standard Network Variable
Types are supported. Output functions are implemented
with commandable Analog Value or Binary Value
objects. The writeable input objects can also write to
LonWorks NV’s when placed “out of service”.
The Babel Buster 485XL is intended to connect
LonWorks devices to a BACnet MS/TP network. As
such, the 485XL expects to be the network manager
on the LonWorks side. It should not be connected to
a managed LonWorks network. It will do all management
needed on the LonWorks network (and would
interfere with any other LonWorks network management
tool). Devices’ domain table entries will be set
to put the LonWorks devices on the same domain as
the 485XL. Network variables are polled and explicitly
updated, and do not require or support binding.
